LOVING the sunshine!

So I can officially say that I am BAFFLED by the weather in Oklahoma this summer! Where is all of this rain coming from? It seems to rain more days each week than it is sunny. I realize we can always use the rain, but sometimes I just LOVE the sunshine and want to just lay by the pool! Also, the roof over my apartment likes to leak. Since it has rained SOO much this spring, we have had our ceiling fixed from rain damage close to half a dozen times. Honestly, it get pretty old. I would love to enjoy the outdoors more often, but it just doesn't seem possible with all of the rain. The other night, I got out of a late movie and was greeted by a downpour. Needless to say I was soked getting into my friend's car. It was ridiculous. What I am curious about is why this summer is so wet. The winter was wet as well, but I wasn't expecting such a wet summer. Is it due to global warming? I know it has had a real effect on our environment, but I don't really know the extent. Perhaps I should do some research and find out what is causing such a wet mess everywhere.

It is easy to blame the current weather on global warming but it just wouldn't be true. Oklahoma has strange weather tendencies. Last year we were in near desert conditions this year we are more like a rain forest. If we look at our history we will find this pattern has happened again and again. Just part of where we are.

That said, I do believe that the climate is changing. The question in my mind is whether or not there is anything man can do about it.

Have a great week.

This is totally unrelated to the weather (which has been terrible and keeps me from my poolside lounging!). I wanted to thank you for your encouragement, Beth! It made me smile! Maybe I am a bit of a writer after all... I have to agree with you that all English teachers are really writers at heart. I, too, would LOVE to take a course just on novel writing. Can you imagine how amazing that would be? Have you taken many creative writing courses? I only took one as an undergrad and always wanted to explore creative writing more in depth but my course plan just didn't allow for it. I am an avid reader and I assume that some of that addiction to novels may eventually rub off in my writing. I suppose the best place to look for characters and plot is all around in the real world. Finding a plot may not be as complicated as I think. Best of luck to you in your writing adventures!
